Hi Plex Community,
this is my first post, so please excuse any mistakes.
What do I need to do if a TV show is not listed correctly in
I have the DVD order and the only source listing the episodes correctly is imdb.
(Kingdom Hospital (TV Series 2004) - IMDb)
In the TV show edit view, I cannot select imdb as an ordering source.
What is the supposed solution for such a situation?
I have spent now several weekends reading the doc & renaming my files, creating .plexmatch files and succeeded so far, but now I have come to a dead end
You will have to provide more info on your issue as I just compared TheTVDB (both aired and DVD orders) to the IMDb and they are listed the same, with the exception of the IMDb also have the finale listed as a 2 part episode.
If the finale is the only thing giving you an issue, you can use something like MKVToolNix to join the 2 files into one and then just go with having one episode for the finale.
ChuckPA posted this link how to do that in another thread:
Otherwise, like I mentioned, you will need to provide more info for your issue as I am not seeing an issue (outside the above mentioned finale episode) between the metadata sources.
The IMDb order seems to be in line with the aired order listed on TVDb and TMDb.
The only exception appears to be that IMDb is showing the series finale as both a single episode (s01e13, 1x 78 min) and 2 individual episodes (s01e14-e15, 2x 42 min). That being said… given Plex isn’t using IMDb for episode orderings, that inconsistency shouldn’t matter, does it?
Thank you for both of your feedback.
The problem is indeed the finale, but also the first episode:
imdb/dvd has 15 episodes, while tvdb/tmdb lists only 13.
Both the pilot and the finale are two full epsiodes on imdb/dvd, while they are one episode on tvdb/tmdb.
I could combine them with mkvtoolnix, but as all episodes come with a full intro and outro, I was hoping there is a better solution, as this would give an awkward viewing experience
I had also tried the - part1.mkv / - part2.mkv naming convention, but that seems to give not the desired result.
You might want to look at IMDB again regarding the first episode, as it shows that as 1 2 hour episode (taking into account commercials, the DVD is probably closer to 90 minutes).
Unless you really don’t want to combine the episodes into one long episode, you should be able to combine them with MKVToolNix using timestamps I believe which would let you exclude the ending credits of the 1st part and the opening credits of the 2nd part so that they do not exist. I haven’t watched it but check out the video I posted in my first reply to see if it gives more info on that.
To comment on your “part1/2” portion, that would essentially be the same as combining the split parts into one file without handling the end credits in part 1 and the opening credits in part 2. So it is not surprising that it did not give you the desired results.
The only other thing I can think of you doing would be to create an account on TheTVDB and then edit the DVD order so that it includes 2 episodes for the pilot and finale. Once you do that, you would then need to wait 24-48 hours for Plex to pick up the changes (as long as nobody else modifies it back) and then you should be able to switch that series to use TheTVDB DVD order and refresh metadata to get it to match.
