How to match shows inside subfolders (i.e Stargate\SG-1, Stargate\Atlantis..)

Hi, I have many shows and movies inside subfolders to group them together, i.e

Annotation%202019-08-28%20080056

Here I have 3 shows all part of the Stargate franchise, but Plex will only see SG-1 or mismatch the other ones. Is there a solution to this other than moving the folders out?

Player Version#:

Plex can’t ā€˜see’ it how you ā€˜see’ it, as a franchise.

You will have to separate the three series.
Meaning…

/media/tv series/Stargate Atlantis
/media/tv series/Stargate SG-1
/media/tv series/Stargate Universe

And you cannot mix movies and shows in the same library. Sometimes you may get lucky and some of the movies are part of the series and listed under specials.
An example of this is The Ark of Truth

You can’t mix Movies and TV Shows.
TV Shows require file names and structures that are basically set in stone.
(do not anger the beast - or it simply won’t work)

Stargate SG-1 ā€œMoviesā€ can go in a Specials Season, or Specials Folder, be named in accordance with TVDB and they’ll work that way. FileBot will go to TVDB and gather the proper file names. If you don’t use FileBot/Other you have to go to TVDB yourself to reveal:

(I think I’ll add my Stargate (1994) as: Stargate SG-1 - S00E01.xxx)

Then you comply with naming and structuring guidelines:

… and you get fully populated items that play from On Deck at the moment they are required (these play after Season 10, of course)

All those other, seemingly ā€˜unmatched’ items are just that - the unwashed masses. Those ā€˜Specials’ are DVD extras I’ve gathered over the years - they are not listed at TVDB and gather no info.

Until recently they were all ā€˜Hand-Edited’ to perfection, but I had to move a bunch of libraries recently and they got blowed-up-real-good. When I have time I’ll fix those.

As you can see, however the two movies do have info - and when named/structured correctly they populate just fine.

PS:
I also have those Movies in my Sci-Fi Sets Collection. 'cause… why not?

… and I’m still wiffed they left ol’ David Blue out there in hyperspace… to do - who knows what? Sure do wish we had a ā€œMovieā€ to put a bow on that eternal cliff-hanger…

Bastids.

lol

Thanks for the input. That’s a letdown, I liked having franchise shows/movies all together ;/ Maybe it’s possible through a custom plugin? Specials are also an issue

As far as TV Shows and ā€˜Collections’ of same - that’s easy enough:

Stick all your Stargate TV Shows in a Collection - Done.

We are required to separate Movies and TV Shows - unless you make the proper adjustments to their names, add them to Special Seasons, listed as episodes beyond what is already listed, and hand edit as required.

Somewhere in here these’s a ā€˜work-around’ that’s gonna work for ya. You just have to get your head wrapped around the possibilities…

How do you make Collections from TV Shows? thought it was only possible for movies.
(edit: nvm found it)

Another big one: (sorted chronologically)

The same way you add Movies:

Here is Saul - awaiting the assignment to an existing Collection - or into a new one.

There really is no difference.
After you make the Collection and have your first TV Show in it - edit the Advanced Section to change the internal sort order, if you like. You can also adjust the Collection’s Sort Order to put it in the big list where you want it.
(I have my TV Show Collections sorted to the front of the list in, ā€˜some kind of order that makes sense to me’.

We don’t have a movie, buuuut… https://stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Stargate_Universe:_Back_to_Destiny_1

Hmmmm… well, that’s something, I guess… not exactly what I had in mind, but…

Yeah. The last dying breath for a cancelled Sci-fi show is the concluding graphic novel.

Ha!

Yea, that’s a good one… probably funded by SyFy - out of guilt…
(No, it wasn’t, but it should have been)

BTW:
I kinda wish more US TV was like UK TV in that it seems each season is conducted as if it was the last - A Beginning, The Meat, An End.

US TV is: A Beginning, Billions of Dollars on the Meat, Cancelled before The End.
