How to optimize Asus router for Plex Server remote access

Server Version#: 1.43.3.10896
Player Version#: N/A - any player

Host server: macOS Sequoia 15.7.9 (24G830)
Router: Asus RT-AC68U

I’ve got the Plex server running on the mac Miini, and port forwarding setup on the Asus router. And I’m not using the default port for external.

I can connect & play audio fine from Windows 11 machine, and an iPhone.

Are there any suggestions on how to optimize the router for streaming Plex audio when I’m on the outside network?

Other than the port forward there is nothing you need to configure in the router.

I used an RT-AC68U for quite some time. I played around with the Traffic Manager (QoS/Bandwidth Priority). It did not help with Plex local or remote streaming. I removed all of it and went with the basic configuration. Worked great.
