When I’m playing a movie on my phone I’ve noticed a navigation bar on the right hand side, when I tap it it takes me to my profile. How do I remove it?
Which platform is this (e.g. Android mobile, iOS…) and which version of the Plex app do you have installed?
I’m on android
Client Version
2025.29.0 (966828528)
I don’t see that. Clicking on the edge only brings up the Android home page bar.
@piper180 Which specific brand/model Android device do you have?
Motorola phone, I have 2 and it does it on both. maybe it’s just Motorola
I am on the z fold 2 and had the same issue, I have found at least a temporary work around until plex fixes this, first uninstall plex, then search plex on apkmirror, click on “all versions” and scroll till you find the 2025.23.0 version, click on it and download the first one which should be from August 11 2025, then download and install the apkmirror installer from the play store, after you’ve done this go onto the apk mirror installer app, allow it all the permissions it asks for, then find the file in your downloads and hit install, once it’s installed go back to the play store, find the plex app, click the 3 dots in the top right corner and uncheck the auto updates box, then simply sign into plex and play whatever you want and the shadow should be gone, hope this helps
A couple questions for you all.
What is the screen resolution of your phones.
What version of Android is on them.
Same issue here.
Phone : One Plus 6T
Android version : Android 11 (yeah… Old phone I know)
Screen resolution : 2340*1080
Client version : 2025.30.0
Thanks! Hope this will be fixed soon!
Hi, I’m new here, and I have the same issue.
My problem is with the Android APK;
- APK from the Play Store; Android; Version 2025.30.0
- Phones: Samsung - S10 Plus and S24 Ultra have the same problem
- Android Version: Version 12 (S10 Plus) , Version 14 (S24 Ultra)
- Screen Resolution: 1440 x 3040 pixels (S10 Plus) & 1440 x 3120 pixels (S24 Ultra)
- Previous version I tested that doesn’t have this problem: 2025.26.0
I have this problem still on a Pixel 5 on version 2025.31.1.
I would also like to ask why this app wants the “Advertising ID Permission”. I don’t see any advertisements. I paid specifically to avoid being tracked and seeing ADs, so what’s that permission being used for?
Ads are in our streaming content which makes them free. Our on demand TV and movies and steaming live TV. There is not and never has been any payment option to remove ads from that content.
Yeah, sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant that I paid for plex because it was “host your own” with promises of not tracking you, and to be honest, I forgot that plex started doing the stream with ads thing. I’ve never seen anything interesting there, so I kinda forgot about it. This discussion did remind me to review the privacy policy, and I’m happy to see the privacy promises remain (for the only parts I use anyway).
Anyway, sorry about the irrelevant tangent, I really only wanted to help with the bug report for an issue that keeps forcing me onto an alternative player.
This is happening to me also.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy 10e
Android Version: 12
Screen resolution: 2280*1080
Client version: 2025.31.1 (The last client version that didn’t have this problem come up for me was 2025.25.0)
same issue (pixel 7 build 2025.31.1)
the sidebar is some kind of bugged navigation bar i think because clicking near the bottom theres some invisible buttons that open the current logged in profile menu or the downloads menu
genuinely annoying asf this app should be better maintained for being a paid service
tbh plezy is looking way better than the plex app rn
its a native flutter client for ios/android/windows/mac/linux n is actually being developed
Guys… I don’t understand why I have a ■■■■■■■ (sorry for my language) grey bar at Fullscreen when I play some movies or series ok my phone. Pleaaaaaaaase help
Same here.
