How to set up remote access using an Arris BGW210-700

I had to switch modems and now I can’t seem to get the remote access back. I enabled the remote access and under the Firewall heading created Plex port opening for 32400 using tcp and udp and selected the static IP for the server and nothing. HELP!

I have the same issue with router BGW210-700. After reading lots of posts and trying many configurations I am unable to get remote access working

Setup steps.
“Firewall” tab then
NAT/Gaming tab
*clicked “custom service” button added the following
-name: Plex
-Global port range: 32400 - 32400
-Base port: 32400
-Protocol: TCP/UDP
*clicked “return to NAT/Gaming”

Under Application Hosting Entry
-Service: “*Plex”
-Needed by device:
*Clicked “Add” button

Notes:
*I do not see any place to manually set the “public port” for this NAT configuration.
*The Status tab under Firewall tab still shows “NAT default server = off” even after adding the NAT/Gaming port forwarding details above
*Port Forwarding guide for BGW210

Any suggestions on how to configure this ATT router to allow remote access are appreciated

Remote access IS WORKING
The configuration in my previous post is now working.

Notes:
On the Plex Server | Settings | Server | Remote Access
*Manually specify the public port = 32400
*THE SERVER SHOWED RED MESSAGE “NOT AVAILABLE OUTSIDE YOUR NETWORK” but Remote access was actually working.

I discovered it was working by using the "canyouseeme.org site and entered port 32400 and to my surprise it showed “passed”
http://canyouseeme.org
This answered my question above about the “public port” being used it is 32400
*The status tab still shows “NAT default server = off” must not matter
*I checked back a while later and the Plex server settings for remote access now showing green

Good luck Zigfire66, I wish you success in getting your remote server working

This never worked for me, got a new router and used IP Passthrough to link it “directly” to the internet.

Someone who is more knowledgeable, I was fooling around in the interface and wondered if the following should be adjusted to restore working remote access:

  • Firewall -> Packet Filter
  1. Create two new rules for Pass packets that match:

  2. For one rule, add protocol of “TCP”, and the other, protocol of “UDP”

  3. Then you can add Destination Port of “XXXXX” (32400)
Not sure if that’ll help at all? Also Maybe something to do with "ingress interface “LAN” " or "egress interface of “WAN” "
If that helps for seeing in you might have to create additional rules with the WAN and LAN switched for sending out?

  • Firewall -> Firewall Advanced
  1. “Protect against port scan” is on by default

  2. Does this produce problems or false negatives for canyouseeme?

  • Firewall -> Public Subnet Hosts
  1. Super scary, I’ve never messed with it

  2. Reading the help section it looks like it deals with accepting traffic on a public subnet you set up using the internal IP address (I think) of your server, has a port range and UDP/TCP selector I think

Could be completely wrong, feel free to correct me! Hate this darn gateway, best of luck

Hi everyone, I have been trying to post the walkthrough for my personal BGW210 fix to as many threads as possible, but this forum doesn’t let you make “similar” posts for some reason, which I’m sure is meant as a spam deterrent but in reality is just very counterproductive.

Here’s a link where I explain how to get your remote access back:

TWOJHAWKS, logged in just to say thank you, this worked for me also, I have been struggling trying to figure out how to get this, but this worked.

OMG you have no idea how many hours ive spent trying to get remot access to work!!! Thank you so much! It’s working ( for now and praying it stays on) i did exactly what you did on my at&t modem NVG589 and didnt even have to reboot and it started working immediately! Had my port forwarded on my router and would enable remote acces it would turn green for 10 seconds then red and would say couldnt be reached outside the network! I legit have tried to fix for hrs on in! I just got the terramaster f2-221 and havent gotten it to work until now. Thanks again

This worked for me as well, first try, thank you!
