PLEX - Remote Access Issue - "Not available outside your network" Error

Hi,
Im having an issue enabling port forwarding for my PLEX Server.
My internet provider is ATT and I was given a new modem: Arris BGW210-700
The PLEX app will not allow me to enable Remote Access, the message states “Not available outside your network”
When I access the PLEX Server from outside my home is shows “Indirect connection”
How can I configure the modem or the app to allow remote access?
PLEX Server OS = Windows 7
I have attached the images from my plex server.
Please advise on how this can be fixed.
Thanks

Did you setup port forwarding for 32400?

You need a port forward and your server on a static IP.

I did but i used TCP instead of UDP,let me try that.

This is working now!! Thanks!!

I am also having an issue using the Arris BGW210-700… just got it installed yesterday.

I added the port forward under NAT/Gaming as described in the linked screenshot… this is what I used to set it up…

Step 1 - Create Custom Services…

  • Service Name: Plex
  • Global Port Range: 32400 - 32400
  • Base Host Port: 32400
  • Protocol: UDP (I’ve tried all 3 options)

Step 2 - Add Application Hosting Entry…

  • Service: *Plex
  • Needed by Device: My PC

This seems pretty straightforward… what am I missing?

@dja1980 we would be happy to assist you, however can you please create a new thread to report your issue please.

Can you answer the question here?

For anyone who finds this, like me, and still has problems - the missing step is where nokdlm originally says to have your server on a static IP.

Your server should still be set to DHCP, but on the router settings go to Home Network > IP Allocation. Find your server on the list and click the Allocate button. Then change it from “Address from DHCP pool” to any of the listed IP addresses and click Save.

After this I went to Plex Settings > Server > Remote Access, manually specified the port (32400) and clicked retry.

Saved my life

Hello, I am having the same problem.
My PleX setup was working fine until a recent update, at which point, it is no longer accessible outside of my network.

I have port forwarding set to a static IP address .212. I verified that my Windows 10 Desktop has the same .212 address. I also have a DMZ set up that goes straight to my .212 to avoid major hassle. My public address is correctly displayed on my PleX Network test.

Screenshot of port forwarding, manual specified port, and the IP address it’s expecting

  • Don’t use the DMZ feature. There is simply no need for it and you are exposing your server unnecessarily.
  • Only forward TCP packets. (you have it set to ‘Both’, which means TCP+UDP)
  • after creating the portforwarding in your router, use http://canyouseeme.org/ to test the forwarding. If the test results in ‘Port accessible’ then disregard the ‘not available’ status in Plex.
