Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: any
In fact I’m just wondering if it is possible at all?
I got a Plex Server installed on my Windows PC, and got a TV in local network. I face no problems watching pre-downloaded movies via Plex DLNA on the TV, but can I also somehow use PLEX DLNA for online content?
For all I know you won’t be able to get that. The free online content is ad-supported and requires DRM protection – you won’t get that through DLNA.
Ok thanks, so no free online content through DLNA.
Is there some paid feature for that?
Also I got another LG TV (old but not THAT old) that got a plex app on it.
I can connect through it to my Plex Server on Windows PC.
As far as I understand it differs from DLNA, but when I connect to the Server I see only local media. Can I watch some online shows using it?
This is independent from paid or free versions. There’s no option to stream the online media sources through DLNA. They should however be playing fine from the native Plex app on the LG.
According to the related support article, the TV needs to run webOS 3.0 or newer.
If the online media sources are not showing, check if they might be “hidden” in the More section of the sidebar/navigation. If they’re not there you can check if they have been disabled for your account using this URL
https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources
It seems my TV is too old cause everything is enabled on the link.
Thanks for tips!
