Hello, when I originally started with Plex, I had an old Windows 7 system. While it worked fine at the time, I outgrew it over the years. I replaced it with a newer Windows 11 system that can handle most anything I throw at it. The problem is, I realized that when I access Plex - it is still going through the old computer. So now, the new computer looks to the old computer (which could die any day) which then accesses the Plex server. The files are stored on NAS drives, but for the life of me I can’t get the new computer to access the account directly… I still need to go through the old system. Surely there must be a way of doing this (as people upgrade everyday), but I can’t figure it out. Any suggestions? As I have painstakingly gone through every episode of every TV series to correct the dates (and any other info) as well as all other files (in the 1000’s), starting over is not an option. Any help is appreciated.
Enable Sync Watch State & Ratings on your account. Have those you share libraries with enable it on their accounts as well (not available for managed accounts).

If you copy the Windows registry settings, then the new server will be a clone of the old server. You cannot run them both at the same time.
If you do not copy the registry settings, the new server will have a new name. You can run them both at the same time, migrating to the new server when you are comfortable it is stable. If you share libraries with others, you will have to re-share them. You will not have to re-invite them.

How did you arrive at the conclusion?
What does “goes through the old computer” actually mean?
What do you get when you type in http://local-ip-of-new-computer:32400/web in your web browser.
(replace the local-ip-of-new-computer with the actual IP address of your new Plex server!)
