How to syncs watch status between different Plex servers?

Hello everyone, I have a question to ask, is it possible to sync the watch status between two different servers? (I have one on windows and one on mac) if yes, how?

Not really. If you are good with databases, you could potentially do it manually.

It would be a mess :smorfie:

There is a way to sync the status for 1 account, like your admin account. Use the TrakIt plugin. This will keep the status between different servers synced but only for 1 account at a time.

Not that it matters to the op as he mentioned he only wants to sync one account. But the trakt plugin can actually sync multiple accounts via a web browser. :grinning:

I was not aware of that. Thought you had to sign into the plugin. Not sure how that works with multiple users.

Yeah he created a way to access the settings via a browser that allows multiple users to be set up. It’s pretty cool.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Not what u are asking but u can duplicate the watched database.

ie. copy what you have u watched to the other server. Not difficult if you have them pointing to the same media location. If they pointing to different locations a bit more fiddling.

You can do this only once, and only if nothing has been played already on the ‘target’ server.

Well you can actually do it everyday if you want but yeh it’s not the answer is you continually use 2 servers.

I have done it multiple times when moving to a new server as to me the watched info it the most important part of plex.

The point being: the target PMS setup must be new. If it isn’t you may end up with negative ‘watched’ numbers and other weird stuff.

Not from experience - I have copied from A to B.
Used B for a while and copied back to A -
With that scenario A and B will have same watched

If you are copying the entire database file, that’s fine. I think OttoKerner was referring to the method we have in our support articles for copying just the watched status to a new PMS.

how you do it?

I entered the names of users in the “Global Filter - Users (comma separated)” section then?
