HTPC Atmos

Hi,

I just built an HTPC with these specs:

  • AMD YD2400C5FBBOX Ryzen 5 2400G Processor with Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics

  • ASUS ROG Strix B450-I Gaming Motherboard (Mini ITX) AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 B450

  • Ballistix Sport LT 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) CL16 SR x8 DIMM 288-Pin - BLS2K8G4D26BFSEK (Red)

  • WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s M.2 2280 Solid State Drive - WDS100T2B0B

I use Plex media player to play content, and use Yamaha sound receiver (Atmos capable)

When I play a video, it was always coming as stereo. So in Windows I went to audio settings and found out it was set to Stereo. The other options I had are 5.1 or 7.1. So I changed it to 7.1. Now all videos even Stereo videos are playing as 7.1.

I was wondering what am I doing wrong? How can I set it up so it detects the right audio stereo, dolby 5.1, 7.1, atmos, and send the right one to the audio system? Is there an extra step involved that I’m missing? (btw on yamaha system I am using it as Straight, so audio is not processed to something different).

Thanks for any help

I don’t use PMP, but look in the settings for a passthrough option, which you’d need to enable.

please see No 7.1 audio
