Tried making the switch to the HTPC app for windows yesterday. HTPC and Server Apps are running on the same machine. Got everything set up and it all seemed fine. But then 4 minutes into watching something the picture froze with the audio continuing underneath. pausing, scrubbing, restarting the content wouldn’t get it to continue playing. And everything else just loads to a black screen with the spinning wheel loading animation.
The extremely frustrating part is that while testing, I put the HTPC app on another PC and it works perfectly fine. Even more frustrating is the Plex Media Player app on the same machine as the Server, also works perfectly fine. I’ve restarted every component and even reinstalled the HTPC app twice and nothing has done anything to fix the issue.
Let everything sit overnight in the hopes that it might just magically work in the morning, but no joy.
I know this isn’t an insurmountable problem and there are plenty of workarounds I could employ. But it’s a huge bummer when “it just doesn’t work” when there’s every indication it should be. So if anyone has any ideas or direction it would be much appreciated.
Apologies if this is accidentally a duplicate of another post or a well known issue i just didn’t find yet.
I downloaded the server logs from this morning but don’t wanna upload the whole zip and am unsure of what specific logs i should be looking at so any assistance there would be lovely as well.
EDIT: This is probably a whole separate topic but I’ve noticed the HTPC app running on the same machine as the server, cannot quit or end its process naturally. The normal Exit button and even Alt+F4 leave the process still running(this is not the case on other machines running the HTPC app while testing). Even still, the HTPC app will sometimes continue to use resources to the tune of %30 CPU usage and almost half a gig of RAM. Again this is after restarting my machine and attempting multiple re-installations of the HTPC app. NB4, both machines are running the exact same version of Windows 10 Home.
