Plex HTPC setting for automatic sign-in is gone.
Last week, I could switch to my media server and plex screen saver appeared, and when clicked, the home screen appeared and I could just select what I wanted to view.
Now, whenever I switch to my media server to use it, I have to sign on again. Why was the ‘stay signed-in, don’t re-authenticate’ setting removed? Makes no sense. Just creates inconvenience.
it hasn’t gone anywhere intentionally. The setting is to skip the use selector pin entry is still there as far as I a can see at the top of General settings
There has never been any other setting or behaviour that would actually sign out completely requiring relinking the app to account.
Question. do you have other accounts in your PLex Home? or are you currently using a managed user in the app?
The auto sign in option is only there if there is other folks in Plex Home. if no one else it home it should go directly to home page after opening app. That option will also not show if you are currently on a managed user account when opening settings
You need to enable it when signed in as a full non-managed account
Well, I attempted to log on to the Admin account in HTPC (I don’t think I ever used the admin account in HTPC), and 10 minutes later the circle/hour glass is still spinning. Taskmanager shows 2 C++ processes running with the PLEX HTCP process.
Cleared the HTPC cache folder. Started app. Signed onto managed user account, but still no option for “Automatically Sign In”. Attempted to sign on to Admin account. The program spins (circle/hour glass). Task Manager shows Plex HTPC and 2 C++ processes running. Ended the task after about 20 minutes. Same result as previously.
Relaunched the app using the managed user account and selected the “Reset Customization” option. Once I relinked I was able to get into the Admin account, and check “Automatically Sign In”.
Reconfigured the navigation panels for the admin and managed user.
And now it automatically opens in the last active account, which is exactly what I was after.
