HW decode/encode does work for HEVC, H264 → H264
Issue: AV1 decode not utilizing HW/QSV, but HW encodes to H264 just fine.
What am I missing to utilize HW decode of AV1? Thanks!
As far as I am aware, there isn’t any hw suppport for av1 in plex. It would need support in ffmpeg and then for any of those changes to propagate up through plex’s custom version of it.
Aside from that, there are limited support for av1 in video cards themselves (and yes I am aware that the n100 can support av1 decode), but of course that will increase over time.

AV1 hardware decoding has been supported for awhile now on Plex. I’m able to HW decode and Tone Map AV1 with my Alder Lake G7400 CPU.
FWIW, AV1 HW decode via QSV works on my other PMS running natively on Ubuntu, but it’s Windows that seems to lack something, or a codec? Be it HDR tone mapping or this.
Does anyone have AV1 HW decode via QSV working within a Windows environment?
