HW Transcoding - Bug Party HELP!

Hi folks,

My PMS runs on an Intel NUC7 with Windows 10 (X64). PLEX is not running as a service. A HDMI dummy is plugged in.

My CPU is quite weak, so I strongly rely on HW decoding (Intel Iris 640).

BUT at 9 out of 10 plays does not work (HW). The log says either that no GPU was found or unknown error.

What I noticed is:

720p is always perfectly processed with HW transcoding.

1080p is completely arbitrary. If I test 10 films, it will be funky for some, but not directly afterwards.

I’m just getting really annoyed.

PMS und all other drivers are up2date.

If iam using a real monitor, the problem still exists.

LOG:

Codecs: hardware transcoding: opening hw device failed - probably not supported by this system, error: Unknown error occurred

and

TPU: hardware transcoding: enabled, but no hardware decode accelerator found

try it with a real hdmi monitor/TV hooked up and see if it works.

if so, then your hdmi dummy plug, is too dumb.

you don’t mention it, but if there are multiple video adapters (ie cpu video + amd/nvidia video card), then the intel needs to be the adapter applied to the primary desktop.
