HW Transcoding no longer working after updating Ubuntu 20.04 Linux Kernel from 5.11 to 5.13 on Intel Rocket Lake CPU

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 4.63.0

I’m using Plex in a Docker setup, running on Ubuntu 20.04 with the proper device /dev/dri mounted. Can verify that lspci returns Kernel driver in use: i915. My CPU is Intel Rocket Lake.

Originally I had hardware transcoding working. Ever since updating the linux kernel from 5.11 to 5.13, hardware transcoding is no longer working. I can verify all hardware encoding settings are enabled in Plex.

In my Plex logs, I’m seeing this which looks to be related.

Anyone know what the issue could be? Thanks for your help.

Bumping!

You might want to consider taking the kernel the other way and stay back at 5.11 until there is a new LTS stable kernel.

Thanks for pointing that out! The reason why I had to upgrade from 5.11 was because I was getting green artifacts from hardware transcoding. Unfortunately it looks like I have wait.
