Hypothetical question about 2 two file movies

Hi everyone!

Let’s say, I had have a movie that consist of two files and I would like to have them playback seemlessly in a row and want them to appear as one film in my plex library, how would I accomplish that? Tried different ways, with playlists, placing both files in the same folder. But the second file isn’t recognized. No luck so far.

Please advise! Thank you in advance!

See “Movies split across multiple files” in the related support article

Usually a - pt# or - disc# suffix to your file name will do the trick.
If you get Plex to recognize your movie as a “stacked file” you’ll see both files listed in :pencil2: > Info or under > Get Info. More importantly the duration of the movie item should be the length of all movies in that stack.

For stacking to work your files need to have the same tracks (track sequence and encoding).

If you have ripped them yourself or have encoded the two parts exactly the same way, you can append the second to the first file and thus get a 1-file movie.

Thanks for the extremly helpful and quick response.

Best regards!
Ludwig
