I am back after nearly 2 years with Emby

It has been about 2 years since I left Plex for Emby, Well the grass did not stay green for long. Short story, Emby had some issues with transcoding, mostly audio and the response from support was trying to point fingers at my audio equipment. Anyway, I am back running Plex and I am very impressed with the new UI and audio is superb.

However, I am having issues with adding users and I remember that I had an issue with this before but do not recall what I did to resolve it. I am simply adding a user under Home Users> Add an Existing Plex User. The user receives the invite, clicks on I accept and they are redirected to the login page (e.g. Facebook, Google, Email page). They sign in with their Plax account and they are taken to their Sharing page. Odd I would have thought they would go right over to the home page. I still have a pending invite for this user. The other odd part is the user receive two emails, one “You’ve been invited to join Plex home” and the second, “You’ve been invited to share some media in Plex”. Neither satisfies the pending invite on my Plex server and the user tile is never generated when accessing the Plex Server.

  1. the link in the email is merely forwarding the user to their own plex.tv account.
    They must login first, and then confirm the invitation.
    If they don’t confirm it, it won’t get activated.
    There is actually no need for them to click on the link in the email. Just have them login to their account on the plex.tv website. They can confirm the invitation there.

  2. Are you sure you want to invite your friends into your ‘Plex Home’? Because then they will appear in the Plex user switcher in each of your own devices. And your accopunt in turn will appear on their devices.
    If they can guess your 4-digit PIN, they will have free reign on your server. Consider inviting them as mere Plex friends instead.

  3. Inviting users to your server and inviting user into your Plex Home are two separate things. That’s why they get 2 emails.

I tried the invite friend option but that only takes them to their own account and always shows “Go Premium”. It never shows my content. Also my Plex server always shows these invited friends has Pending.

Please advise.
