I am having some trouble setting up remote access on my WD MyCloud Pro NAS connected to a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router. I have done this before many times with other devices and have even done a lot with Double NAT. I recently moved and I have the Netgear router now, and it is connected to a satellite internet receiver. As far as I can tell its not Double NAT and Plex only tells me that its not accessible outside of my network, where in the past if it was Double NAT it would tell me there. I am signed in and everything, UPnP is enabled on my router and my NAS has full network access. There is only one router and a second router (just in bridge mode, so it won’t be handling any of the ports and shouldn’t interfere). It works perfectly on my local network but I would like to have it accessible for my whole family and for me when I am traveling. I have even tried setting up port forwarding to see if that helps. Still nothing. I have no idea what to try next. Does any one have any idea how to fix this?
In your router look at the wan IP. if it is using a standard local IP scheme something like 192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.x then it is getting local IP DHCP lease from modem and it is double Natted.
on a side note : personally i would just set a static IP ( vie DCHP reservation or whatever) for your NAS use manual port forwarding rather than UPnP . it will be much more reliable.
Can you access your NAS remotely regardless of Plex? for file access for example

My IP is a 192.168.1.xx, but how can I find where I need to go to change the port settings of the other modem? I can’t seem to get in.
Also I would like to look into the Static IP, but I am unfamiliar with that. Do you know how I can set that up or send me any information that would help? Do I have to purchase a static IP or contact my ISP to get that set up?
I am able to access all my files through the MyCloud App. I checked the UPnP settings and its showing the correct internal and external ports that are forwarded.

i mean for your computer/NAS local IP so it never changes, not your external IP ( page 102 of manual Nighthawk R7000 | AC1900 Smart WiFi Router | NETGEAR Support )

You would have to find instructions for whatever type of modem/router your ISP gave you. ( to be sure, in the netgear it calls the WAN/extrernal IP as “Internet IP” and that is what you are saying is a 192.168.1.x address correct?)
