Hi,
I have been trying to fix this problem for weeks now and I can’t seem to find an solution. so that’s why I post this Topic. When my desktop (where Plex server is running on) uses the wired connection I am not able to stream video’s to my Chromecast or my laptop. the only thing that is working is my Plex media player on my raspberry pi(this one is wired to) however when i switch to wifi on my desktop i can stream to my Chromecast and my laptop. does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?
after switching the network connection, you must close the Plex server (using the task tray icon) and restart it after a few seconds. I recommend restarting the client devices after a few minutes as well.
You must make sure that your router does not isolate the ‘wired’ part of your home network from the ‘wireless’ part. In the router configuration options this is often called ‘guest network’, or ‘AP isolation’ or ‘client isolation’ or similar.
I prefer to use an wired connection. normally i don’t use the wifi on my pc, i only used it test if it had something to do with my Lan connection. so plex server starts with an wired connection
I checked my router settings and under the wireless section on 2.4ghz and 5ghz ap isolated is turned off
Please start Plex server and keep it running. Even if you don’t plan on using it in the netxt few hours.
Meanwhile, try to find some settings in your router configuration.
Particularly, the ‘DNS Server’ to use and some settings for ‘DNS rebinding protection’.
I fixed the problem. i was using an static ip which i assigned from my pc, now i changed it to dhcp and assigned an static ip from my router. somehow this is working for me.
