I can't access plex server after I change new router

Hi

Can anyone help?

I have a plex server on my pc and connected through router ( linksys wrt32x) and connected to my synology nas. It works fine and can be access from my iPad connected to the wifi.

After I change my router ( linksys wrt32x) to new router ( synology rt2600ac) I can see my nas from window file server and play my plex movie from pc that has plex media server but I cannot play movie from my plex app in iPad that connect to the new router.

If I change back to my old router it all works again.

Pls help, what setting should I check in my new router. My knowledge for networking is limited

You may have to open the port plex server uses on your router.

You mean the setting in remote access that state use port 32400?

Previously using old router I always turn off remote access and Itu works.

The above comment is correct - you will need to open the port on your router. If you are unsure how to do this, post router and model and we can help :smiley:

Windows is automatically switching its network connection to “public”, when it encounters a different router.
This then causes the windows firewall to shut down all ports from the outside.

You need to tell Windows that your network connection is indeed “private”, so that Plex clients on your home network can access it directly.

How do you do this? Tell window the that my network is private
