Server Version#: 1.32.6.7371
Player Version#: ?
I created a new server on my Mac Studio Max. I have external 16TB PCIe storage that I have moved a lot of photos to. They were saved under the folder title “My Media”. I changed this folder name after I had added a few photo libraries within. The new folder is “My Plex Media”. Now, I can get to the old libraries, so I removed the server and started all over again. This time when I went to add a library, it gave me that message above.
I browsed to the folder I wanted and click to add it. Here is the path to the folder…
The folders that I tried that failed were photo folders. So, just on a curious note, I created a music library and it took it. And, surprisingly, I was actually looking into permissions when I got your suggestion and I compared the music folder against the photo folders that I had tried. Permissions were the same level to level.
Is there no one out there that can help me with this? No technical support from Plex? I am at a complete stand still. I don’t know what else to try. I have removed Plex Media Server from my Mac Studio (completely I hope). Rebooted my system and from scratch, reinstalled it. I can create a Music library, but NOT a Photos library.
Another update on this. I continue to try different things with respect to adding Photos with no success, but I now know that there must be something very specific to Photos as I have been able to add Libraries for Movie, Other Videos, Music & Television. But, I can’t add even a single Photo library.
Q1: In the add library window under add folders in the left column and you add a folder is the ‘add’ button greyed out? If not, after adding and returning to the add library window is this windows ‘Add Library’ available? is this where you get the error?
Q2: Is your photo library path name actually “Photos - Cozyriver” or “Photos” only and Cozyriver is a subdirectory? I know UNIX and some Windows applications are very sensitive to the case of letters and spacing in the path. Have you considered using :
/System/Volumes/Data/Volumes/TREBLEET-Hub-A/MyPlexMedia/Photos (I assume you are selecting the path thru PLEX rather than typing it in.)
I am not familiar with the naming and path conventions on a MAC.
If you have all this data backed up somewhere else, you may want to reformat the disk and check how you formatted it, if you have selected a case-sensitive format for either APFS or Mac OS Extended (usually journaled) it maybe causing you issues… Then try setting it up again…
Did you find a solution? I have the same issue with smart collections. I can’t rename them and have to remake them from scratch. It’s frustrating that Plex have zero customer support now.
