I can't create libraries

I can’t create libraries in Plex. I followed instructions on Chat GPT, Google, Youtube tutorials, and the Plex support page for creating libraries. In the latest, it says:

  • Click to open the settings menu

  • Ensure that the correct Plex Media Server is selected within the settings menu

What Plex Media Server? When I click on Home, I have the following options to the left:

Home, Watchlist, Live TV, Movies & Shows, Discover. On a Youtube tutorial, there’s a More option, which I don’t have. When I go to Settings, I have Manage Libraries, which is for granting access to my libraries, not creating one.

I ultimately want to create a library so I can add Bitlord clips to the server so I can watch on my LG smart tv. Please help.

Did you actually install “Plex Media Server”, and not just “Plex for Windows”? The latter is a pure client and doesn’t provide server functionality.

If you have installed the server, verify that you see the Plex logo in your task tray area.
Double-click it, then continue here: New Claiming Requirement for Windows

I check my task tray area and I see Plex Media Server. I click on it and a webpage is being opened at app.plex.tv/desktop/#!

Is anything missing? I don’t have the options that JimKarnage posted. I don’t have the Manage option.

So the issue is that the server is not claimed. I went to your link and got stuck right in the beginning. It says:

From the Windows system tray (that’s the group of icons shown on the bottom right of the screen ne to the clock), find and click on the Plex Media Server icon. You will be shown a menu of options. Select Open Plex....

I don’t see this menu of options. When I click on the icon, the only thing happening is that the Plex app opens in the browser. When I double click on the icon, it says that I don’t have access to the server. When I click on the support article, a bunch of stuff appears that I haven’t read and that instructs me to do a bunch of commands in cmd. Is there a simple fix to this? Otherwise I’ll just give up.

Are people being affected by the windows localhost bug?
I didn’t update my Win11 the past Tuesday. So I can’t test.
