I signed out of Plex via my nvidia shield TV. When I tried to sign back on using Plex Link on an iPad Pro, I couldn’t sign in to my Plex account. On my Mac mini, Plex is working fine. I use the same Plex password on the Mac mini and iPad Pro. I hope someone can explain how to resolve this problem. Thanks.
Addendum:
In desperation, I signed up for a new Plex account using Apple, but the new account does not see the files stored on my NAS, and I cannot see a way to point Plex to those files. This is very frustrating.
Plex is running on my Mac mini. I use this computer-based app for managing my library. A Plex app also is running on my iPad. Using the latter, I can check on some things while a video is playing on my TV. Both of these apps have the same password, but I cannot logon to the app on the iPad using my email rather than using Google or Apple.
Please read the addendum I added to my original post. Thanks.
At the moment, I can watch videos on my computer monitor and iPad, but not on my TV.
If I uninstall Plex from my iPad, I won’t get it back. It just installed Plex on my iPhone, but cannot sign in using my email address. I keep getting the message that my user name or password is wrong, which is not true. A few weeks ago, I noticed that my video library now looks different on the iPad. Someone at Plex probably decided to fix what ain’t broke, which usually causes problems for us users. About an hour ago, I uninstalled the Plex app from the nvidia Shield and then reinstalled it, but that exercise did not fix the problem.
You SAY your password is correct, but Plex says no. Simple. Reset your password regardless. It not only makes certain that your account is not hacked but also refreshes your account with a new password. Just do it.
I followed your instructions and obtained a new password, which appears in the passwords file on both the Mac and the iPad, which is what I meant by using the “correct password.”
My Plex account has been restored on the TV, but I do not have any videos to watch. I have told Plex to scan the movie and TV sections of my NAS, but the libraries remain empty. FYI, the NAS is connected to the network, and those videos appear in the libraries when I’m using Plex on the Mac mini.
In your browser on the MacMini, Do you see these libraries show up on the LEFT hamburger menu of both methods below? DONT FORGET that you need to navigate all the way to the bottom to find MORE, where you can pin additional libraries that might be hidden from view. Do you see these libraries listed on either web interface?
Yes, everything on the Mac appears normal. I have only Movies and TV Shows, and the movies and TV shows in those libraries appear in alphabetical order as they should. For some reason, Plex on the TV set is not scanning those folders on the NAS. I’m going to reboot my computer and hope that something changes.
Rebooting the computer didn’t help, but I uninstalled Plex on the Nvidia Shield a couple of times, and finally everything came back to normal. For some reason, the NAS appears twice on the list of possible Plex Media Servers when I was signing in.
Thanks for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.
