I couldn't access my plex, remotely or locally. But then i broke it even more!

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Running on Windows 10

Hi everyone,

So it all started a couple of days ago. I noticed on my android phone that i wasn’t able to see my content while i knew my computer was on and running PMS. So i tried to look in to this and found out that by restarting the issue was fixed. But then i noticed i wasn’t able to access my server settings and kept getting the error that the server settings were not accessible. Hench my lack of log files…

A few hours later though when i tried accessing my library on my pc (locally) I wasn’t even able to access my localhost address. So again i rebooted and this kept going on and on until i finally got fed up and tried to reinstall PMS.

  • I uninstalled plex via control panel
  • Cleaned the registry
  • Deleted files in AppData

Now I reinstalled PMS and when i start it up for the first time I’m greeted with the starting screen asking me to add a library. But i’m still unable to connect. It’s so frustrating all these issues came up out of the blue without any recent change to the serversettings or the enviroment where it is running on.

Did you finish the setup and add a library, test it out with the WEB client?

Problem seems to be that i get the interface to add a library but it never is able to connect to the service and does not complete the post request. Also when it prompts me the screen it shows no available languages in the ‘Prefered language dropdown’ indicating it is not loading all the required information…

Did you test it with the WEB client… Could you play a video from the library?

No so my library is inaccessible from the web interface. I tried on my localhost and on plex.tv/app.

All indications of plex running on my pc are there but when i try to connect it displays the message that my server is not online.

did you try ipaddress:32400 right from the server?

Yes I tried this, it is also my preferred way to accessing my library. This seems to work at first but after about an hour the service stops serving a web page too…

I solved my problem! While using my VPN i whitelisted PMS (which i thought would make it less probable to have any issues) Even though my Surfshark was not operational at the time of the issue (Why i dismissed my VPN as the complicit) it did interfere with plex normal workings

Wish everyone on this forum a happy holiday season! :christmas_tree: :christmas_tree:
