I was having issues accessing the server settings to change anything when it came to the local server on my PC. Anytime I tried to click the “Remote Access” settings, a red symbol would come up next to it and it would say “Server settings unavailable.” At one point I stumbled upon the “ClaimIt” tool on github and that helped to turn the little red symbol next to remote access to a green checkmark. Sadly I keep getting the server settings unavailable. I deleted the registry settings as found in one of the forums but that still didn’t help. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the program leaving the registry as it was as well as the local app data folder untouched. That also didn’t do anything. Then I uninstalled the program one more time, I deleted the registry key entries for Plex, Inc. and then reinstalled.
Now when I run the plex program (whether via localhost:32400 or 127.0.0.1:32400 or via plex.tv), it is going through the initial setup like it did when I first installed the software. The problem is that after trying to add my libraries back (and failing) I made it to the “finish screen” but it won’t let me claim my server again. It ended up giving me an error stating that I need to come to the forums and post my logs.
I have a copy of my logs which I will paste below. I apologize in advance if they are being posted like if they were verbose; since I cannot access any settings on my server, I cannot turn off the verbose option. I am getting really disappointed. I was hoping to get this working so that I could access my home server from the outside world when traveling and if that worked I was going to become a lifetime member but with all of these issues, it is really pushing me away from wanting to do so.
If I could get this to work, I would be willing to make the investment but I need help. Thank you to everyone who is willing to help out a newbie like myself in getting this to work. Have an amazing day.
Oh and as of this moment, I am stuck at the second screen which says “please wait a moment while Plex starts” with the spinning orange circle and nothing else happening. It’s been about 10 minutes since I started that tab with no results whether on the Brave browser (which worked before) or through Chrome.
If I go ahead and just manually click on the “Name” “Add libraries” and then “Finish” it leads me to the home screen where my previous libraries are at least showing up but they show up with a orange exclamation point. When I click on any of the libraries I get this error: " HOSTNAME is currently unavailable.
Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our troubleshooting tips for further assistance." And hitting the “retry connection” button doesn’t do anything.
