Its only us few. The plex staff are deliberately ignoring us because we are few in number
I can see there are other threads on this section of the forum. I have been read through them. It does look they have given up on win 10 app.
Unless some one has a direct email address this is pointless.
Believe me, people tried. There was some discussion going on with one of the ninjas on the old forum, they asked us for a poll, which was done, and after that, nothing. I guess the reason that not many people are raising their voices is because people have moved on. I mainly use Emby as they update their UWP app regularly and only use Plex for a few external users.
Itās simply insane to me that they continue to sell plex pass without giving any kind of update on the windows app. Or even work on it for that matter. One could almost call that scamming people.
At least itās shady AF
Yes, we really did try. Plex is ignoring its paying customers, but users on other platforms are likely having the same experience.
That seems to be the type of company that Plex is - happy to take your money, but will ignore you rather than listen to your concerns.
I do not understand why people would continue to use the app from the windows store for regular viewing when there are so many alternatives that work so much better.
There is PMP or the browser interface if you must use a computer directly and there are numerous devices that are between serviceable and great. Examples of those are Roku(both regular and stick), Fire TV(both regular and stick), Shield TV, Raspberry PI(with PMP or other system) and many others. Some of those can be acquired for less that $40.00 if you watch for deals.
To me it is about ease of use more than anything else and the Roku team has created (and is still adding to) by far the easiest interface and the most customizable interface that Plex has.
EDIT to add: I am talking about the new Preview Roku app not the regular Roku app.
It seems that using the Windows app, in this case, is a lot like the old joke:
āDoctor, it hurts when I do this.ā
āThen donāt do that!ā
Having said all that I do want to say that if Plex is going to keep the app in the Windows store they should make it work correctly. If they do not want people to use it they should pull it from the store.
Thatās exactly the point, Doc.
Plus, Plex store app has the best user interface (UI) like no other alternative. Only problem⦠its flawed. But so are the rest.
will u be able to read the RT critic reviews from the alternatives? The answer is: no.
I do not understand what you mean here. Of course I am able to read the reviews but they are meaningless to what I was saying.
I have used all the alternatives I mentioned. I do not need the reviews of others that may or may not have used the apps in any way close to the way I do.
Every one of the alternatives I mentioned are way better than the Windows store app hence why i mentioned them. It just makes no sense to use a bad app when there are better available.
Youāre missing the point. Yes there are other options to use Plex but for people who want a usable touch interface and sync on their 2 in 1 or surface devices the only option is the uwp app. Iām fine if plex tells us itās dead as Iām already using emby but at least give us an update. Thatās all people are asking.
Itās hard to use any of your alternatives at 35,000 feet in an airplane, where I watch a majority of my content. I use a Surface for work, so it would be great if at least offline sync would work. In the meantime Iām trailing Plex alternatives that have a proper Windows 10 app with working sync.
Easier locking on of Media Keys. Easier to accidentally close my browser than my Plex media appā¦
Ahh, the āI donāt like this so nobody shouldā response. You should put your resume into Plex.
