I’ve got three (3!) apps here on my Mac dock. Plex, Plex Media Player, and Plex Media Server. So, please, how can I add some TV show files I just got into this application?
Then, how can I enable viewing over on my TV? I use Roku over there. I did succeed in getting Plex over to there, but, I just can’t figure out how to get files into Plex, and, then, over to Roku.
First learn how to organize your movies and tv shows in a way that Plex will be able to recognize them correctly. This is the most important part. Don’t ignore it.
Once that first part is done, learn how to create your libraries
At last, open Plex app on your TV, click sign in and it will tell you to access https://plex.tv/link and type the code shown.
You only really need Plex media Server on your Mac (to run the Plex Server).
Plex and Plex for Mac are 2 different players - which you don’t really need if you are only ever going to playback on your RokU/TV.
With Plex media Server installed, you can still watch in ad ad-hoc way through your browser. If you intend to watch seriously on your Mac, use Plex for Mac.
The other Plex player is the older version which has more functions especially if you intend to hook your Mac to the TV (instead of using Roku on your TV).
Thanks a lot. Yeh, I did all that. Actually, I’m literally just trying to watch the last season of a British crimie show. That’s all. Of course, in the future, if I get this workiing, I’ll watch all kinds of stuff.
So, on my TV, in Roku, yes, I’ve got Plex. And, Plex tells me that there is nothing in the library of my MacBook Pro. And, on my MacBook Pro, it says the same in Plex Server. My questions is simple. How do I add files to my Plex library. I honestly don’t see anyplace in this app to let me do that.
Thanks! I believe I’ve been using a browser that simply doesn’t work properly with this stuff. I’ve gone back to Chrome and now everything seems to be working.
