I don't see any of my media anymore

Server Version#: 4.132.2
Player Version#:
Hello,
I have absolutely no idea about how to handle this situation. I have some warning everywhere and I don’t know how to analyse anything. It use to work :frowning:

First I can give some context :
My Plex is installed on my Synology server
The version is 4.132.2
I have the life plex pass
I think that after power failure my NAS has reboot
At this point, i don’t know why, Plex was working only on my bedroom’s TV, after a week, things came back to normal
A whole moth later, same story with the power failure (I don’t have an inverter yet)
but from this last issue, nothing came back :frowning_face_with_open_mouth: (only about Plex everything else looks OK on my NAS)

I tried to restart Plex, I tried to restart my NAS, and now i am lost

Any help please ?

Is your NAS set to a static IP address and have you configured proper port forwarding on your router? Can you access plex by nasip:32400?

Hi, it y a static IP address, i can’t acces even in local address

When i want to add some medias, it look like nothing is installed because it ask me to get Plex Media Server

Any logs from the synology regarding the Plex service start up failing etc?

Possibly a corrupt database due to sudden power loss. See if you can find the server logs. You might be able to try the db repair tool. GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases

Actually, i don’t see anything about my serveur in settings, so i don’t know how to access to logs

Probably want to navigate to one of the following on your dsm screen. Right click and choose compress logs.zip and you can upload to here.

/volume1/PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/logs

or

/volume1/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/logs

https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/

Hello,
Sorry for the delay guys

Here is the log file
Plex Media Server.zip (705.4 KB)

I tried to read it, but i did not understand anything :man_shrugging:

@TheLivingBubba, i am waiting for the log analize, but i explored my files to find if i have some backups. It seems like I have some files, but i think my problem is older than my older backup

But i found this article wich can be useful : https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/ with this note

Note: You can also simply delete the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db database file while the Plex Media Server is not running.
Restarting the server will then restore your server to a nearly-fresh install state.
(i.e. You will lose your existing libraries and need to recreate them, but you won’t be affecting your content itself.)

Seeing a lot of these:

I think that is a dns failure. Maybe try changing the dns server to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 to contact plex.tv again.

@jclifton and @ChuckPa have been having a dicourse about this and hopefully can chime in and I can learn something as well.

You have DNS issues:
Apr 18, 2025 06:18:24.261 [140717302577976] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#2bae] HTTP error requesting GET https://v4.plex.tv/pms/:/ip (6, Couldn't resolve host name) (Could not resolve host: v4.plex.tv)

  1. Reboot your router.

  2. Stop Plex Media Server using Synology Package Center.

  3. Via Synology Control Panel → Network, verify the IP address, mask, and default gateway are correct.

  4. Using Synology Control Panel → Network, configure the NAS to use a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9). Synology Control Panel → Network

  5. Synchronize the NAS with a public NTP server. Synology Control Panel → Regional Options.

  6. Start Plex Media Server.

  7. Wait 2 - 3 minutes for Plex to start.

  8. Try to access PMS via the NAS IP address. For example, if the address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web.

If you still cannot access Plex:

  1. Stop PMS.
  2. Using Synology File Station, navigate to the Plex Data Folder.
  3. Right click on the Logs directory and compress to Logs.zip (need the entire folder, not just one log file).
  4. Download Logs.zip and post to the thread.

FYI, 4.132.2 is the Plex Web version.

The NAS is running PMS 1.40.4.8840. If you cannot reach Plex Media Server settings, you can check in Synology Package Center.

First time I’m seeing references to v4.plex.tv for failed DNS. Ran an nslookup to see what’s up.

root@hw-plex:~# nslookup v4.plex.tv
Server: 127.0.0.53
Address: 127.0.0.53#53

Non-authoritative answer:
v4.plex.tv canonical name = adb10bc8a64ed4c6387832bf64b05780-9402806.eu-west-1.elb.amazonaws.com.
Name: adb10bc8a64ed4c6387832bf64b05780-9402806.eu-west-1.elb.amazonaws.com
Address: 54.247.6.33
Name: adb10bc8a64ed4c6387832bf64b05780-9402806.eu-west-1.elb.amazonaws.com
Address: 34.253.120.192

@Schubby49 what do you get when you run an nslookup for that address?

OOOH yes <3

I was so focus on my power failure that i forget i tried to change my DNS address …
So for the record, i changed my DNS address to 8.8.8.8 has you told me

Thank you very much guys @TheLivingBubba, @jclifton , @FordGuy61

Just for my culture, do you know why i didn’t had acces to my media even with my local address : http://192.168.10.20:32400/web/index.html#! ?

thanks Again :growing_heart:

Out of curiosity @Schubby49 what were the DNS nameservers set to before you manually changed them to 8.8.8.8?

Also, if you’re going to keep using Google’s public DNS, make sure you set the secondary to 8.8.4.4, or use a different provider like Cloudflare of Quad9 as @FordGuy61 suggested.

I used my Internet provider’s (“Free”) DNS : 212.27.40.240

I dont’ know if I do it well, but, I created my own DNS server to “loopback” adresses. I don’t want to go to internet and get back to my server. So my first DNS is my local DNS serveur and my second one is (now) 8.8.8.8

That would explain it. If your local nameserver (most likely DNS Resolver or something) isn’t configured to forward requests for unknown zones, then any system relying on that nameserver for lookups would fail.
