Plex Server & Media not showing up when accessing Plex via port

Server Version#:DSM 7.0.1-42218
Player Version#:1.21.0-3744

I have the logs running but am unsure how to describe the issue, I don’t think anything has happened to cause it but the server no longer seems to exist this isn’t just I have no files but no server heading in settings or any hint that its there OTHER than I am accessing it via the Synology instance of Plex ie port 32400 in the server.

Synology says its still running fine, I can view and access a friends Synology server but don’t see any of mine at all. Also I can see that there are 2 libraries I am sharing but nothing is visible when click on the user.

Apologies if this is obvious fix.

@jamhops

You’re using the (BETA) 1.21.0-3744 package from the DSM beta.

That’ll cause a lot of problems. (it’s not compatible with DSM 7.0.1-44218 but we’ve been unable to get them to update to a newer version of Plex in Package Center)

Please download Plex from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More for your NAS

Install it.

Don’t panic if it takes time to upgrade.

It will move all your PMS metadata / internal files from the Beta location to the final-release location ( a new shared folder named “PlexMediaServer”)

Once there, we can then use other features of the installer itself to get you back up and running.

May I ask the LAN IP of the Syno and LAN IP of the computer you’re using to access it?
Also, do you have QuickConnect enabled ?

Thanks for the help, I only have updates configured for ‘critical updates’ so not exactly sure why (but plan on moving to docker soon to control this.

I have updated and am now running 1.25.2.5319:7000. The PlexMediaShare is there and the Plex system users seems to have rw to all relevant shares. Plex interface is still the same with nothing to show the server.

EDIT: I think its fixed, you seemed to be moving towards a network problem I hadn’t noticed it as I expected I was connected to my Plex locally so local media should change (still not sure why it didn’t) but overriding the DNS on the synology seems to have bought everything back. Not sure why/how I could see external and Plex hosted stuff but not local media but thanks for getting me in the right direction I had been stumped for hours!

Overriding the Synology DNS resolver , which usually points to the ISP’s modem/router, (the source of the problem) is how we get around ISPs doing dumb things

Closing this off:

I fixed the root cause I run AdGuard Home and I looks like one of the lists was blocking Plex, I added whitelisting of:

Plex
