I have installed plex media server and it keeps telling me its not there and to install again

Had the same problem but I realised I was logging in with the wrong account. I have set up a media@example.com account for my Mac in the living room which is delivering content for the devices across home, but when logging in, I was logging to this account (the one I’m writing now from), hence the same screen as you guys are talking about. First check with what account you are delivering content and to which account you are logging in, they might be different!

Hi, having the same issue. However, i have the server installed on a Synology NAS

Only ever had one Plex account, and that is the one I’m logged in with. Have updated to the latest Plex Server version, and now it’s no longer behaving as PMS, asking me to get the PMS.

Anyone help?

THanks!

Getting the same issue.

Exactly the same issue, tried everything here with no fix.

Glad I never bought the lifetime sub now. Any alternatives if this isn’t getting resolved?

Thanks

The following fixed the issue for me:

  1. Open the Plex App from your server
  2. Navigate to Settings (Wrench/Screwdriver icon on the top right of the app page)
  3. Change the “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” to “Always”
  4. Restart your Plex Server

After install Plex Media Server I had the same issue. Even installed with various methods, has the same result, impossible to claim the server.

My fix is to access the server through the internal IP, and not the hostname, ex:
https://192.168.1.100:32400/web <— Works to claim
https://hostname:32400/web <— NOT WORKING to claim

Hope it helps!

as the previous poster said: you have to open the IP not the server hostname. I have just spent an hour trying to figure it out. Reinstall will not help you!
