So i have internet service though Comcast but when the internet goes down i cannot watch any of my local content though the Samsung tv app.
I would like to watch the content locally because i receive notifications from Comcast that i am using too much data in 1 month, (250gb) I am thinking that me streaming content from plex may the culprit. please help if you can…
If both your plex server and client (e.g. TV) are on the same network, your content wouldn’t go through the internet and come back to you… It’ll play through your LAN.
If you watch things via Youtube or Netflix through your Samsung TV, be aware that those will suck up the data quickly, as you’ll be transferring 1080p (and in some cases 4k) content; That does go against your internet usage.
thank you. I guess i may need to take a look at other things to see why i am going over my cap

Due to some incompatibilities with certain routers and ISPs, ‘Secure Connections’ can cause your traffic to at least pass over your router.
If your ISP has implemented the traffic counter incorrectly, this could lead to a misattribution of the traffic.
If you only play locally, I recommend you to disable ‘Secure Connections’ under
Settings - Server - Network (restart Plex server afterwards)
After a few minutes, restart your Plex clients as well.
