I Have Issues With Plex. I hope Plex sees the video in the link below.

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=XYZESQYMpho

That link does not work. Please read the guidelines and provide us with more information regarding the issue - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/220049328

Sorry. I didn’t realize that the video was listed as private. I went ahead and fixed it. Here is the link now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYZESQYMpho

Words can not explain in detail for which a video can…sorry. A video, you can see the issue upclose.

Skippy should to be called Skippy , not Skippies.
If it was called Skippy it should find the relevant poster for the show

The files not deleting problem : check whether you have set “Empty trash automatically after every scan” under Server > Settings > Library.
It doesn’t automatically remove shows in case a file is on a removable /offline device , it will remove ‘missing’ files from your library if you enable that setting

No! It is called Skippies because it is a folder full of Skippy episodes.

That setting is still check marked.

Part one of this saga is NEVER USE YOUR TORRENT DOWNLOADS FOLDER AS A PLEX LIBRARY!

Part two is this required reading - especially important for TV Shows:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation
The really important bits:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows

Part three is doing the actual naming/structuring in a way that will allow Plex to work properly:

Find the name of the show at TVDB - use that name:
https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=75742&lid=7 - ‘Skippy’ at TVDB
https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=74897&lid=7 - Hell’s Kitchen (US) at TVDB
https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=78901&lid=7 - Supernatural at TVDB

Aim Plex at the TV Show Library Folder ONLY. Do not add individual TV Show Folders.

A TV Show Library/ <---- The TV Show Library Folder - ‘F:/TV Shows/’ would be more appropriate
…Skippy/
…Season 01/
…Skippy - S01E01.xxx
…Skippy - S01E02 - Sports Car Rally.xxx
…Skippy - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen/
…Season 01/
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E01.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E02 - Day 2.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx
…Supernatural/
…Season 01/
…Supernatural - S01E01.xxx
…Supernatural - S01E02 - Wendigo.xxx
…Supernatural - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx

FileBot (link in my signature) can handle that naming and structuring for you automatically or manually in seconds.

What FileBot can’t do is remove possible embedded metadata in the Title Field of MP4/M4V files. Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure (you don’t have any of those yet), but you can combat that situation by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Show and Movies here:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200241558-Agents
Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it. If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don’t it won’t matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom.

Renaming/restructuring is best performed OUTSIDE the library and you’ll need to write a new bundle for the shows so The Plex Dance® was invented:

The Plex Dance®:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. update library
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <— update library, empty trash, clean bundles
  5. bring names and structures into compliance/move LMA/Check/Double Check
  6. replace corrected show/movie into library
  7. update library

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.

If, after making the corrections to file names, folder structures, library locations and Plex Dancing, the desired result is not achieved - give up some log files:

https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files
Drag zip file to message window and drop it.

No I do use my torrent downloads folder and have been for over 4 years now. This is the first that I am having this issue. I am not going to be in the habit of moving things all the time. It is annoying.

A lot of that above is greek to me. I am not a PC genius.

At the top of my annoyance list:

  1. Plex not working because I didn’t do something according to the packaged instructions - and it doesn’t work.

Here are the packaged instructions for TV Shows:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows
There are TV Show Libraries and there are Movie Libraries. You can’t put Movies in TV Show Libraries and vice-versa.

Here is an example of the file names and folder structures that are necessary to have Plex work properly in TV Show Libraries:

F:/TV Shows <---- The TV Show Library Folder (not your downloads folder)
…Skippy/ <— The TV Show Folder
…Season 01/ <---- The Season Folder
…Skippy - S01E01.xxx <— The Episode Files
…Skippy - S01E02 - Sports Car Rally.xxx
…Skippy - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen/
…Season 01/
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E01.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E02 - Day 2.xxx
…Hell’s Kitchen - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx
…Supernatural/
…Season 01/
…Supernatural - S01E01.xxx
…Supernatural - S01E02 - Wendigo.xxx
…Supernatural - S01E03 - Episode Name Optional.xxx

Here is a screenshot of one of my TV Show Libraries:

All done instantly - and BEFORE they hit the library - with FileBot (link in my signature). Everything works the first time because it’s easier for me to follow the instructions one time, than it is to engage in a war I can’t win with Plex.

A lot of that above is greek to me. I am not a PC genius.

What parts are you having trouble with?

And to further augment what Tony is saying (which is all correct), no need to do anything manually after setup if you add Filebot’s AMC script to your torrent client (so as they work together) - https://www.filebot.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=215

Excellent point, Peter.

FileBot is ‘The Easy Button’ and is probably the Number One Plex Companion Tool.
When configured properly incoming material is: Seen, Renamed, Structured, injected into the right library type - automatically.

It really doesn’t get any easier than that.

I use FileBot every day, many times a day. I prefer the Manual Operation, but it still saves me a lot of time and unnecessary pain and suffering.

I have Radarr and Sonarr perform the necessary renames for me, but if I need to do anything manual, filebot is the tool to use.
I used it so much I even bought the windows store version to support the dev and get automatic updates…well worth the investment.

I am not talking about the library on Plex…I am talking about the folder on my hard drive. I have put things like this for over a year now and not a problem. So something is wrong with Plex…ok?! This is how my movies are on my hard drive. I would have to do a quiet video on YouTube for all to see. This is how it is and it is not changing. Like I said, I had no problems with Plex until now and I have had it for over a year now.

Unfortunately you are now experiencing the reason why you need to name and structure your stuff according to the packaged instructions. One day non-compliance works fine, then suddenly, out of the blue, for no reason, it don’t. Welcome to ‘it don’t work’.

Best of luck to you.

Conform! or remain looking for an answer that doesn’t exist.
I can drive a nail in with a screwdriver sometimes, but I can ALWAYS drive it in with a hammer!

Well I found out this. Ever since I moved my Skippies folder to another location on my hard drive without re-adding it back to my Plex…my Tv Shows library on Plex completely removes any shows that I add to my Plex server when I refresh it. How odd is that now?

You really need to try the advice everyone gave you. It’s pointless to ask for help and then tell everyone you don’t like their answer because it’s not what you want to hear. Plex isn’t broken.
