i have no sound with plex on fire stick

Thanks Chris,

I did get to watch it briefly for that minute, and yes, it appeared playback is all back to normal operation. Thank you all for the quick fix, and I will wait now for the Amazon App store version to be updated by them.

Hi All,

My OS X 10.10.5 PMS upgraded last night to 0.9.12.19.1537 and ever since then I’ve been having the same exact issue described by others here. After finding and reading this thread I decided I would sideload the apk that IanDBird listed above on my 1st gen fire TV stick(Software Version 54.1.2.3_user_123067020). My plex app is now working with 5.1 AC3 audio streams but I’m still having the same issue with 5.1 AAC encoded audio that used to work before. Stereo AAC audio steams work without issue.

If devs need more info, please let me know and I’ll pass it along when I get a moment.

RFE: adding additional info after more testing with my files.

So… when is the update rolling out to our sticks?

We’ve submitted the app, which should include fixes for the 2015 devices and those updated to the Fire OS Developer Preview. Amazon are hopefully doing an expedited review, so i’m hopeful that it will become available very soon.

Thanks for your patience
Ian

As of 4:55PM MST, the app store still has 4.16.2.475

Looking at the current status at 7:30am GMT, it’s currently ā€œUnder Reviewā€ which means they’re actively looking at it. Hopefully it will become available shortly…

Ian

Windows 10 PMS v0.9.12.19
FireTV Stick 1st Gen. (direct to TV using built-in speakers)
Fire OS v5.0.3
Plex for Android v4.17.2.488

With every single Audio/Streaming option modified and tested, seems to always transcode to 5.1 AAC with only one of the channels audible.

Shouldn’t PMS transcode to Stereo AAC?

Ok, it’s finally rolled out! Thanks for the fast feedback

I am seeing the new version as well. Thanks Plex team. Hope we don’t have to go through this again.

I appreciate a company that is willing to acknowledge they made an error and then fixes it. They also kept their customers in the loop on the problem and the solution. Kudos.

i am only seeing 475 in amazon.
how can i get it it to update or check for a update ?

a uninstall and reinstall fixed that problem

I am fully updated but my problem persists. If I have PM set to 5.1AC3, the whole video locks up and I get an error message saying it lost connection with the server. If I uncheck AC3 but leave AAC checked, both video and audio work but I lose surround sound.

Yea!! Updated to v4.17.2.488 and can now play my 5.1 media :). Thanks.

Installed the latest version and I am back to watching shows again!!! Thanks Plex team for getting on this and cranking out the fix ASAP.

I too am having issues with the updated version, only by unticking the AC3 surround options can I get it to work. Otherwise, no sound, and it hangs after 5 or 10 seconds. I remember reading somewhere on these forums that the FireTV didn’t natively decode AC3 or some such. It seemed to work with whatever workaround was in place before that first bad update. Either that or surround was never enabled by default before and I was none the wiser. I only have a 3.1 setup right now anyway so I’m not that concerned, but as it stands, the current version of the app as installed is going to cause a lot of headaches on the FireTV Stick.

Same here. Got the new Fire TV2 stick for Christmas. I also found unchecking the AC3 corrected this issue. Thanks MRAGE

Its 2019 and its still broken.

Can we see a fix soon, like NOW! this should have been handled years ago.

Issue not fixed even in 2019 : TCL android TV weird

Same issue here with Toshiba tv with amazon TV stick gen 2
