Hi everyone, I wanted to understand this.
I have a video with part 1 and part 2 I merged them to have a cleaner library is more the way I like it.
But now I don’t understand. putting the Play button starts part 1 of the video, when it ends part 1 it does not automatically start part 2 by itself why?
how do i start part two once two videos are merged?
Can’t I have Part 2 start automatically when Part 1 finishes?
Sounds like you didn’t actually stack the files but had Plex recognize them as different versions? You should be able to confirm this by checking the duration displayed for the item… if it’s only the duration of the 1st file, the files aren’t “stacked” (considered to be the same movie and to play sequentially).
Stacked files will play continuously in sequence without user interaction. Keep in mind not all clients support stacked files – it’s generally recommended to actually merge/append the files (e.g. using MKVToolNix)
How exactly did you name both files inside your library folder?
Yes, when I click on Play, the first part of the video of 1 hour and 30 minutes starts when it ends and the second part of the video does not start. which has approximately the same duration as the first part. so it should be a video file of about 3 hours.
When I uploaded the video file to plex I separated them in part 1 and part 2, I selected them and did merge
the two video files in the folder are renamed like this:
vacation video.Part.1.1991.mkv
vacation video.Part.2.1991.mkv
maybe they should be renamed differently to automatically start the second part?
