I want to use PLEX Server to play songs using Plex remote app. There is no streaming. Basically remote control of server or windows desktop plex app.

Can someone help me to achieve that. It will be run on local network. Direct server access or DLNA.

Let me know if anyone done it?

I can do it in Itunes but i see PLEX has better user interface and also i can have custom account that can be used by anyone i give without security issues.

i cant give my apple id pass to others as with case of itunes.

I’m not clear what you want, but if you are new to Plex, read https://support.plex.tv/articles/200264746-quick-start-step-by-step-guides/ first. Then you can ask specific questions for things that you don’t understand.

I’m sorry, but that isn’t clear. You are referencing multiple things.

server - This is Plex Media Server (PMS) you install to organize your files. There is no interface for PMS, it just runs in the background.

windows app - Do you mean the Plex for Windows client from our downloads page?

mobile plex app - Did you mean the Plex for Windows client I asked about above? The only other mobiles apps we have are for iOS or Android. There is Plex Web that can be used through the web browser on your phone/tablet.

First setup PMS using that link I provided. Then see if you can get to your content using whatever Plex client you want to use.

I can control itunes player installed in desktop windows with itune remote app

i can control music bee desktop with music bee remote app

I want similar functionality. i installed server and desktop plex app.

But plex remote app stream to itself. I do not want that,

I want remote app to my audiocockpit where i choose my songs …play tidal to any …but it should play in desktop. I am in backyard doing something and able change song that played by changing in iphone plex remote app.

Why plex? plex seems to have good remote interface than others. Itunes also. But itunes restricted my main email. i want custom email just for remote play purpose.

Plex can stream from 1 Plex client to another. The server itself is not a player. So you need to:

1 - install and configure PMS
2 - install a Plex client on that same computer and have it running
3 - use another Plex app, like the Plex for mobile apps to control playback on the client in #2

I have Plex server installed. Plex windows app installed on windows.
Using plex app in ios.

But cant connect to server directly on same network.
server connections return 401 error code.

Do i have to do anything in router? or DLNA setup?

401 error means not authorized, so you are not signed into the same account on all the apps.

can i access plex server without sighning in? i want to use only local network not internet. I am not streaming to anything. Just need remote play my songs in my pc.

You can access the server from the clients without signing in. However, the companion feature does require you to be logged in so the clients can see each other.

There is casting icon shows that i can choose plex window player that allow me to play in my desktop. Its ok for one song. i want that to be in settings not on each video.

If you see the cast option, then I guess it works. That cast setting will stay until you turn it off, so you should be able to playback multiple items.

Buenas soy nueva en esto tengo la app en mi celular y la cuenta por internet la a abo de abrir con mi Facebook pero al Memento de ingresar el código de mi TV LG lo hace perfectamente pero al tratar de entrar a la TV me dice. we couldn’t reach a media server
No hemos encontrado ningún servidor para conectar por favor asegúrese de qué has instalado y el servidor usando la misma cuenta también pueda abrir. También se puede abrir ajustes>servidor configurar manualmente la dirección IP de tu servidor

Hello marialexa_14. As the error message says, have you installed Plex Media Server yet? You need that if you want to stream our own content.

If you are looking for the free content provided by Plex, make sure you are running the latest version of the app. What version did you install?
