I recently installed DSM 7.0 and latest version of Plex. Plex doesn't see my server

I recently installed DSM 7.0 and the latest version of Plex. See above. I also carefully adjusted all of the permissions in the Control Panel to give Plex access to Read/Write. When I open up Plex in the web app, I do see a highlighted sentence that says: The applicated is at 193.168…quickconnect.to and is not hosted by Plex. Continue if you recognize the server and wish to grant access.

So it had my email address and I click on Sign In. But once I sign in, all I see is my laptop? Why isn’t this connecting?

Need more information please including the history of your steps here.

Please confirm:

  1. You had PMS running on DSM 6
  2. You updated to DSM 7
  3. Now what did you do with PMS?
    – Uninstall PMS first before upgrading to DSM 7.0 ?
    – Clicked Repair button during the upgrade process?
    – Something else ?

It’s unclear whether you have or haven’t had PMS running on DSM 7 yet.

  1. You had PMS running on DSM 6 - No I was running on DSM 4 or something less than 6. I hesitated upgrading all the time for this very reason that something always breaks. but it was working totally fine.
  2. You updated to DSM 7. I did update from the lower version to DSM 7 but I uninstalled the older version first and then tried to rebuild from scratch.
  3. Now what did you do with PMS? I manually installed the latest version onto DSM 7 by downloading off the PMS website.
    – Uninstall PMS first before upgrading to DSM 7.0 ? Yes, I had uninstalled PMS first before DSM 7… I have also even uninstalled PMS and then reinstalled as well.
    – Clicked Repair button during the upgrade process? No, I never got the repair because I started from scratch for DMS 7 and Plex so nothing to repair.
    – Something else ? None… I’m confused because when I log onto Plex I do get the notification that it sees the server? Is there something to do w the Quick connect?

Is it possible for your team to do remote support, as in, I give you access to my computer “live”? Thx

A question I ask is I’m a bit confused in reading this post. Title says Plex doesn’t see my server but then you note that once logged in it see’s the server. Because you uninstalled then installed from scratch did you add back in your libraries?

Typo?

You need to use RFC-1918 addressing - 192.168…

Also, do not use quick connect, a domain name, or app.plex.tv.

Point a browser at the IP address of the NAS: http://syno_ip_address:32400/web.

The “server not hosted at plex” message is not a problem. That just means you are going direct to the server and not using app.plex.tv.

Can you login, access server settings, and, if needed, claim the server?

Once the server is claimed, you can use https://app.plex.tv/desktop/ if desired.
