Plex Media Server.log (910.9 KB)
Server Version#: 1.24.5.5160-7000
Player Version#: Web version on PC
I have recently purchased a Synology DS920+ and I want to set up a Plex server. on it
I currently have a server running on my home PC but that bad boy is on its way out.
I am running DSM 7.0-41890
I have tied both the beta installation direct in DSM and also the manual install which I am on currently. I have installed and reinstalled wiping all settings several times.
I have set read/write permissions via DSM control panel to PMS folder location as well as content folders.
When I open the PMS from the DSM menu it opens a new browser and states I am not authorised for this server, if I do manage to log in using my existing PLEX account it can not see the NAS server and only the Windows one.
I have turned off the Windows one in the hope it would help but it has not.
I am sure what I have missed is simple but I have watched several video guides, read multiple forum/Reddit posts and I can not seem to find my specific issue so posting here in the hope someone can point out my error.
You have to be local to claim a Plex Media Server. Quickconnect is treated as a non-local domain. Oct 20, 2021 16:48:24.287 [0x7f652d51fb38] DEBUG - Request came in with unrecognized domain / IP '192-168-1-155.xxxxxxxx.direct.quickconnect.to' in header Host; treating as non-local
Do not use the beta version from the Package Center. It is not fully compatible with DSM 7.
Stay with the latest version from plex.tv installed manually.
Give the system internal PlexMediaServer user Full Control (not just R/W access) to the PlexMediaServer shared folder.
Read/Write is sufficient for your media folders.
Follow this document for installation of Plex Media Server on DSM 7 systems. Note that the latest beta version, 1.24.5.5160 (release notes), cleans things up a bit. You no longer see the prompt about log file location. It just uses the PlexMediaServer shared folder.
You wonderful human being, thank you so much.
The local connection seems to have done the trick I have done the initial setup now and have access to the server UI.
