Server Version#:1.30.2.6563-3d4dc0cce-x86_64_
Player Version#:Plex-1.62.2.3451-fb8ac0ae-x86_64
Yesterday I finally upgtaded my ds1819 to DS 7…the most recent version. I was totally unaware of the Plex problems and it apparently has broken Plex.
PLEX WILL NOT CONNECT TO MY PLEX SERVER
I have seopnt hours trying to resolve…have uninstalled plex & reinstalled using the download from the plex page…most recent version. I then adjusted the share folders as suggested to allow full access to PlexMediaServer to the plex folder and all media folders. I then uninstalled and reinstalled, using the Plex key (or whatever it is called) with no luck. I have followed several suggestions to try andresolve the issue but at this point do not want to do something that may cause more problems.
I have tried launching the package center which opens in a browser…still will not connect to the server. I also cannot connect using my ios app nor the player on my windows 10 desktop. I’ve never had this issue before.
Do not use QuickConnect, a domain name, the open button in Synology Package Center, etc.
See if you can login and access the server settings.
If you can, go to Settings → Server_Name → General and make sure the server is claimed.
If you cannot, stop Plex Media Server, then, using File Station, navigate to the Plex Data Folder, right click on the Logs directory and compress to Logs.zip. Download the zip file and attach it to the thread.
I just realized I may have done something foolish…I was able to access the server using the method you suggested but it looked lie it wanted me to set it up again…I changed the name from “DMediaplex” to “DMediaplex Plex Server” to distinguish from the original and set up media folders but then realized it still was not connecting to the Synology/Plex…I hope I didn’t screw things up by doing that. The files I uploaded were from after I did this…
Stop Plex Media Server, wait one minute, start Plex Media Server
Give Plex Media Server a minute or two to start, then login again and verify the server name is correct. If you see a “503 server maintenance” message it means Plex Media Server is still starting. Wait a minute or two and try again.
A bit of housecleaning to remove any old servers from your account
You should also be able to access the server via the Plex apps on your phone, TV, etc.
You may have to logout/login to the Plex app (will force it to refresh the list of servers & libraries).
You may have to re-pin your libraries to the home screen. If your libraries are not listed, select More >. You should see your server and a list of libraries. Pin the desired libraries to your home screen.
The zip file contained some other folders in addition to the logs. Not a problem. However, as you add media to your server the other directories grow and will eventually be too large to attach (the forum has a size limit for attachments).
I removed the extra directories and re-uploaded the zip file. The size is now 1.5 MB vs ~20MB.
I’m making progress. Seems to be working now. THANK YOU>
One thing…all of my libraries…TV shows, Video, Movies, Music, all are empty It appears all correct Diskstations folders are seletced. Yet nothing appears. Must i wait till it scans and loads the libararies?
Again…I reallt appreciate you assistance. I’d be screwed without it!
Third, you can always manually scan the libraries.
To scan an individual library, using Plex Web or Plex Desktop, mouse over the library name. Select the three vertical dots, then choose Scan Library Files. See screenshot below.
To scan all libraries, select More >, then mouse over your server name. You’ll see the same three dots and an option to scan libraries, except this scans all libraries on the server.
You can also go to Settings → Libraries. You’ll see a list of all libraries on your server. Above the list of libraries is a Scan Library Files button. This will also scan all libraries on the server.
