I see where plex announced live tv, how do i access it?

Will this be available for the Apple TV soon

They’ve said Apple TV should be available by the end of June.

I mean… thanks for rolling this out, team, but how hard would it have been to put this in the announcement so we didn’t spend half an hour trying to figure out why our SiliconDust-that’s-been-there-for-two-years still doesn’t do liveTV through Plex?

You mean the email that has a link that says “Learn More”, which leads directly to the announcement article that specifically states Android TV and iOS app are the only ones supported at this time, and also has a link to all currently supported tuners?

BOO-YAH… nice work plex… running 1.7.1 ubuntu server and it is also pusing the new live feed… NICE as I had not updated to 1.7.2 yet’

as can be imagined… with an HDTV stream the processor usage is pretty stiff I have not clocked it officially but my processor usage on a 8 core VM went over 40% and stayed there while experimenting on my network to an ipad…

one bug…

going to another app ie window in window… back to plex full screen hung the feed completely… would not retune the tuner for several seconds / attempts after closing plex and going back in… so that is probably a bug… will see if it repeats…

pretty solid so far… I see plans for apple TV in the near future as well as time shift… nice…

keep it coming…

This was also mentioned right under the “Learn More” button in the email itself.

* Live TV now available on Android TV and iOS devices (more coming soon), recordings can be viewed on all Plex clients. Additional hardware required.

OK, I might be missing something obvious but how do I actually watch LIVE TV…
From iOS app, I only see future programs, no choice to browse by channels or program that is actually live now…

Check out this link:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/115007689648

ok so, my problem is that I don’t have “on right now” section in that case…
I tried updating program, no go…

Is there an option to enable to category? or bug?

OK well I resolved this by deleting the DVR and re adding it, restarting the process.
All working fine now!!!

Does this remove any series and or movies that you had previously scheduled? I have lots of things scheduled to record and really don’t want to lose those settings.

Can’t confirm since during my troubleshoot, I manually deleted them trying to resolve this.
I would say yes if I would have to guess…

I just confirmed, on a separate system i had setup. Deleting the DVR, and setting up a new one, does not delete your series schedules, or movies that are scheduled.

Unfortunately, that trick didn’t work for me trying to see or test live TV on the iOS app. Still no luck.

Still no luck here either. I updated the server to 1.7.2 and after that didn’t work I deleted the DVR and redid it still with no luck. Tried deleting the app on my ipad and download again and still nothing. Hoping it kicks in soon.

Double check what version you have on your iPad. You need to be running 4.12 or newer. If you have an older iPad running an older version of iOS, you may not have the newest version of the app. Starting at version 4.5, you need to have iOS 9.3 or newer.
