I shared my library with a friend, but how do I get his managed home users to be able to access my library?

So, my friend and I each have a NAS with a plex pass lifetime on our accounts. We each want to be able to access each other’s libraries but also want to share our libraries with the users within the accounts. How can I do this? Since they are managed users and not unique plex accounts I can’t add those users as a “friend”. And I can’t have each user create a plex account to share with since they would need to purchase a plex pass to actually connect to our servers then.

Really? That’s ridiculous. Would be so easy to just add a checkbox to allow a friend’s users to access my library as well.

If they want to be able to access my library from outside my network, as far as I am aware they need plex pass.

Okay good to know. So just to confirm. If I created a new account, shared my library with that account. That new account can download the plex app, login, and see my library remotely without ever paying a cent?

As long as we don’t talk about the “mobile” apps, that’s correct.

So there is the catch lol. If they made the mobile app free then my complaint would be gone but until then, there needs to be a free way (considering I already paid)

There are plenty of free options.
All those boxes and plugs which you connect to your TV. A computer with an ordinary web browser. Some brands of smart TVs.

Fair enough but that only covers some use cases. What about travelling. What about on a tablet in the kitchen while cooking etc. At least for the people, I am trying to share with, 50% of the time it’d be through the mobile app. Definitely think the cost should be waived for users trying to watch from a plex pass library.

Add the new Plex accounts to the Plex Home the same way you add Managed Users to a Plex Home. If the admin of the Plex Home has Plex Pass, then all the Plex accounts in the Plex Home have unlocked mobile apps.

A Plex account in a Plex Home is identical to a Managed User with the addition of having their own login credentials and ability to receive shares from other servers.
