I know that I can change the language to German and turn on “original titles” but this way I also get trailers in German… I watch all movies in the “original language” and use german subtitles, so that’s a no go for me.
I really wish I could set one language for titles and one for descriptions.
Or let us choose the language for trailers.
Is there any chance something like this will be implemented?
This sounds rather like a fringe use case.
I’m also German and prefer watching my movies in English… though I have no problem with the metadata being displayed in German.
As for your use case… why not simply configure the entire library in English if it’s that important to you?
yes I know, I’m complicated… The thing is there are other people in my household and they prefer the metadata in german (at least the description).
There is just no perfect solution for me…
If I set up everything in German, there are a lot of translated movie titles and I can’t find what I’m looking for and the trailers are in German.
If I set up everything in English, my kids and my wife don’t understand everything.
If I use German with original titles, there are a lot of titles on Japanese and Chinese and I can’t read them, and also the trailers are in German…
of course it’s possible. Edit library Select German on General and then on advanced tick the option use original titles.
But the problem with Japanese and Chinese titles remains and the trailers will be in German if I do it this way.
Can’t you manually edit them so they show the titles in English? that’s what I do. and ofc make sure to optimise the database in order for the changes to be searchable.
as for the trailers you could add your own files in the desired language.
