If I have a trailer in a movie's folder, the same trailer shows up twice...

Not exactly sure why this is occurring but for any movie that I have a trailer for (using “-trailer” in the label), the trailer shows up twice. I thought it was Plex showing it’s own trailer but…

  1. It’s always the exact same trailer I’ve added manually

  2. Movies that I haven’t added trailers to do not have trailers at all

Any way to get it to show just the one?

Plex web only shows the trailers in the “Extras” section if their is more than one available trailer.

So, if you have enabled the download trailers and extras option, but have not added your own trailer, the only place to see the trailer is from the icon at the top of the web page. This is also true if you have added a trailer yourself, and Plex was not able to find a trailer. One trailer = just the tcon, more than one trailer = included in the “extras” section.

If you look at the XML for the movie, you will probably see “Extras size =2.” One of those is your trailer, the other is the downloaded version . You should see something like

guid="iva://api.internetvideoarchive.com/2.0/DataService/VideoAssets(65945)

in the XML for one of the extras, indicating the downloaded version.

I would guess it’s just coincidence that both you and Plex have exactly the same trailer.

Coincidence should mean sometimes - in this case, it’s every single time…

guid=“file:///E:/Videos/Movies/HD/Interstellar/Interstellar-trailer.mov” type=“clip” title=“Interstellar” summary="" index=“1”
guid=“file:///E:/Videos/Movies/HD/Interstellar/Interstellar-trailer.mov” type=“clip” title=“Interstellar” summary="" index=“2”

Why would this happen? There are no downloaded trailers. There are just the ones that I’ve added.

Also why is there a requirement of having at least two extras for something to be displayed?
