If you can't make realiable software, at least don't force your users to "upgrade"

Everything has been working fine until you forced me to “upgrade”. Matching doesn’t work anymore, server settings are unavailable, the server randomly crashes when I try to start it… Why the ■■■■ do you force your users to upgrade?

  1. who forced you and how?
  2. which version of Plex Media Server do you have installed and on what Linux (distro, version)?

No one was forced to upgrade. I have not budged from 1.21.4.4079

PLEX has forced upgrades upon users on many occasions.

Certainly… if you want to keep using the latest apps, you’ll at some point be required to upgrade your server. As the e-mail says… this refers to future client updates requiring a newer version of the PMS.

It’s not that simple.
I use mostly Roku. Since Roku forces the client update I am forced to update PMS.
I realize that technically it’s Roku forcing the update.

And yet I am still using the firmware from Feb. Many of my clients also use roku. It really is that easy. No one is forced to upgrade.

Not every Roku client update requires a PMS update but some do.
