Server Version#: Version 1.9.7.4441
Player Version#:
WHAT.THE.F.IS.THIS.CRAP!?!?
I open my Plex channel on my Roku and see a MONSTROSITY of a UI. And when I try to go to my libraries, it says…
"Plex Media Server version 1.10.0 or higher is required. I am running Version 1.9.7.4441.
Ok so no big deal right? Just update my PMS and my movies will show up on this trash of UI.
WRONG.
In my PMS, I am given NO OPTION to update the version!!! The Check for Updates button is faded and non-responsive.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HERE???
Plex…WTF DID YOU DO???
I have a whole setup with my data folder on separate drives.
If I am reinstalling manually - how much will F up here?
I 99% sure that you just stop the server and install over top and then restart the server.
You could always do a manual upgrade like I do. I stop the Plex server, then run the installer, then launch the Plex server again. Very rarely does the system require a restart (only when there are big changes to Plex and the installer requests it).
It’s an older post but I believe it still applies.
You could do a backup just in case: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201539237-backing-up-plex-media-server-data/
Version 1.9.x is from ages ago - latest is 1.14.x, so a few years maybe?. No surprise the built in update isn’t working. FWIW I’m not crazy about the new Roku UI either, but give them time and let’s see if it improves.
