I am unable to upgrade my plex server past V 1.8.1.4139… any suggestions on how to upgrade? The new Roku app requires version 1.10.X minimum for support.
Server Version#: 1.8.1.4139

Go hear and select Mac: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server
shouldn’t there be a way to update the current install?
Ideally yes but somewhere around 1.6 or 1.8 there was a manual install required. It happened ages ago… after you do this manual install, you should be able to update from the server page again
Thanks for the reply. Will i have to reconfigure everything and reconnect ll the apps on Firesticks/roku/tvs too?
I don’t believe so but don’t quote me on that; sorry, just not sure…
Forgive me I am on 1.9 still and haven’t done this before. I install the new one and delete the old install or does the install remove the old one?
Sorry, not so sure about the mac version – hopefully someone else will be able to help…
I’m on windows
Sorry, the original post was tagged mac-os. Just stop the server, install on top and then restart. I believe that should work okay. You can back up the Plex Media Server data just in case.

It’d be nice if there were a support article for manual upgrades
Thanks! I just did the update. It was super easy. it shut down plex updated it and all the apps i have were still logged in.
Thanks for the replies!
The original poster probably has a old computer which is no longer supported by current server release
So, your saying stop being poor Kenny?
I’m saying that apps update from all sorts of companies. sometimes those updates require the more recent OS or hardware or whatever.
Yep and those companies send out an end off life notification. Which your company did not.
The “update” button with grayed out in the settings of the server. I was able to uninstall and reinstall to obtain the last version. Annoying, but it got the job done.
Glad to hear it!
