UPDATE: Realized the issue is happening to all of my Apple devices, thanks to this discussion.
PMS Version: 1.20.1.3252 (Windows Server 2019)
Apple TV: Apple TV 4K (tvOS 13.4.8)
Plex Apple TV Client: 7.5.1 (21550)
iPhone, iPad Client: 7.5.1
I noticed recently that Movies in my Movies library are not displaying the IMDB rating when viewing the individual movies in the Plex Apple TV client, as well as iOS clients on iPhone and iPad… They used to be there before, and I think they went away some time in the last couple of weeks. IMDB ratings are present in the Web UI.
The one change I know of (aside from updates to the Plex iOS/tvOS client and PMS versions) is that I updated to the new Plex Movie Agent for my Movie library. I don’t know if that created a new problem, or maybe there’s a setting I don’t know about that could resolve it. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes. I tried various ways to fix this but without any success…
i guess its related to the new matching system…
Cant see imdb rating ob both Apple TV and ios,
Only on the web interface.
Hope they’re gonna fix this soon.
So this is clearly an app issue. Tested with Anroid devices, Webplayer and iOS devices. IMDb badge isn’t showing on v. 7.5.1 anymore.
RT ratings are working, but I prefer IMDb.
I found that since I clicked on “Upgrade Matching” the problem Appeared.
so I played with the settings…
It basically brought me back to the previous search engine.
On Your “Movie” Category Go to > Manage Library > Edit > Advanced
and put these settings:
Scanner: Plex Movie Scanner
Agent: Plex Movie (Legacy)
Cast List Source: The Movie Database
Rating Source: IMDB
Plot Summary Source: The Movie Database
After you do that you need to do Refresh Metadata one by one for a movie that does not
show you the imdb badge.
Worked wonderfully for me, hope it helped you too.
In my original post, I suspected the change to the new Plex Movie agent was the cause of the issue. This may confirm it. So there may be a compatibility issue with the new agent displaying the IMDB logo and ratings to Apple devices.
I am not going back to the old scanner, though (especially since the new scanner is ridiculously fast compared to the old). I guess the reports of others having this issue will just have to pile up until the developers resolve the issue .
I can understand you, I will wait for them to fix the problem with the new search engine and I will get back to it.
In the meantime, it’s too much pain for my eyes not to see the IMDB tags lol
This issue is isolated to movies using the new Movie agent, rather than the legacy agent. This issue will be resolved in the next versions of the iOS and tvOS apps (currently in beta).
