The streaming services option in Plex HTPC really bogs down the interface in settings. A high level disable/opt in function would free the app of it for good.
I want to disable “Discover” and my previous post was deleted as this will likely be too…
Ok everyone keep this on track.
As previously mentioned, we will be adding the ability to turn off discovery at your account level. This will take a little bit of work to get it out but we are working on it.
Thank you for the update !
And about the the streaming services advertising in the Watchlist ? Will we be able to disable them too ?
I had to install Jellyfin for my kid, to be sure that he will not reach outside content like he can do it now with plex…
I really appreciate the irony of Plex rolling out a client-side change that can’t be disabled whilst simultaneously stating that server-side shouldn’t force clients to do anything in Default All Clients to Max Internet Streaming - #652 by sensei321
Does Plex know what it’s own philosophy is?
The answer is ‘no’.
Yes, disabling this feature would effect everywhere.

This wouldn’t help much since they could just turn it back on. If you really don’t want them to see anything, you should use a managed user account for him. This is already off for managed users.
Yes. I don’t understand what you are trying to say. Server settings, client settings, and account settings are all different things and are put where it is most appropriate. If you think a setting is in the wrong spot we can discuss that.
Can you please give the details of this? I just checked one of my managed users and any show added to the Watch List still shows “More ways to watch”.
I looked for a toggle on my admin count for any “home” users and do not see a way to turn this off.
I think the point is that since they can’t search outside your server they can only add stuff to the Watchlist that they can access on your server. Though that makes showing more ways to watch kinda useless, but they can’t access content you don’t want them to from a streaming service. I assumed that’s probably because they were planning on enabling it for managed users in the future, but now it sounds like that’s not the case, which makes me wonder why it’s even there then…

I’m sorry, but i have to correct you here, Watchlist is available / ON for managed user.
Maybe add the option to completely remove it on accounts with parental control?

Thanks another response from you gets me to see another vote for this! Kudo’s good Sir.
@anon18523487 I’ll wait to hear your “Plex Professional” response to my question to give more details on what you are saying about this.
I’ve never voted on anything before on plex forums despite being here for years. This has my vote
My apologies. Currently you can only hide it from the search results. However, if a user places any content from a Plex Media Server they have access to into their “Watchlist”, we do show the discover row with other streaming providers. The ability to hide the discover row on the show/movie preplay page has not been implemented. This is what is being worked on.
I can’t wait for this update ! ![]()
My god, does no one else see the ramifications of this? What other terrible contractual obligations are in the pipeline? Sell Outs, pure and simple. Very disappointed.
Who told you that?
I believe this may have been the only official mention of contractual obligations. Anything further is likely conjecture from others running off with that minor nugget of info.
This maybe
