Soorry for the delay and thank you for reporting this
We are currently working on new player support for Live TV at the moment, which once released will have the ability to record a show directly from within the player. I understand this does not fully solve the problem because you may want to record without even starting playback so we are going to look at some potential solutions to this in the meantime. We do also support pressing the record button on your remote if you have this button, but rest assured we are looking into some potential solutions to this

Do you have an approximate timeline for when this might be supported. I’m trying to get my Mom off of Windows 7 WMC as it ended support in January but issues like this are preventing me from using Plex.

On Android mobile and TV, a long keypress on a show in progress now brings up a record option. The long keypress also works for future recordings.
