I’ve just installed the media server and imported a bunch of TV shows which I have in their own sections (such as horror, comedy, etc) then each show with their episodes.
For some reason, there are several shows shown along with the number of seasons which is higher than the show should have (such as 24 having 10 seasons).
When I look further, some of these seasons are completely different shows, such as Angel having 15 seasons, some of which are Supernatural.
Is there a way for me to manually separate these so that it shows correctly?
Your best way forward would be to avoid the extra level of folders.
If you want to keep it in order to more easily find media in a file manager, you could point your Plex library to that genre folder – this way, there’ll be no unexpected “in-between” folders getting in the way of Plex.
e.g.
TV Shows
Comedy <- point your library to this folder
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Season 01
The Big Bang Theory (2007) - s01e01 - Pilot.ext
The Big Bang Theory (2007) - s01e02 - The Big Bran Hypothesis.ext
The Big Bang Theory (2007) - s01e03.ext
...
Horror <- point your library to this folder
Supernatural (2005)
Season 01
Supernatural (2005) - s01e01 - Pilot.ext
Supernatural (2005) - s01e02 - Wendigo.ext
Supernatural (2005) - s01e03.ext
Supernatural (2005) - s01e04.ext
...
Plex is rather strict when it comes to the folder structures for tv shows – there should never be folders between the library folder and the folder of individual shows.
This has definitely been an adventure, but a good one. I’m slowly learning the best way to do things for TV & film, and it’s starting to get to the point where I’m going to cancel Sky Glass (pretty much just Plex with some of the main channels). I got myself the Nvidia Shield Pro, and it’s just about there.
