Impossible to claim PMS (unable to find media server)

Server Version#: 1.42.1.10060 (tried downgrade to 1.41.3.9314)
Player Version#: web 4.141.0

I accidentally removed my server from my account.

So I was confident about the possibility to reclaim the server, but since I don’t have any option to claim it anymore.

I tried :

  • log off / log in from the web interface of the server
  • restart plexmediaserver
  • restart server
  • clean Preferences.xml (remove login variables)
  • remove plexmediaserver and reinstall
  • remove all settings and library
  • set claim id via url and environment variable
  • downgrade the version to 1.41

I would need advice from people having a clear mind on this ^^

When going to the setup url, I get this “unable to find media server” error.

In the logs, I see this :

May I see a tar.gz of the entire Logs directory?

This snippet doesn’t tell me much more than ‘Not Authorized’

Your server logs show “permission denied” trying to talk to Plex.tv meaning the server isn’t claimed.

Looking at Plex.tv for your account shows the “Q” server hasn’t been seen in 3 days

With PMS stopped, in a ‘root’ shell, have you tried forcing the claim this way with a claim token?

(There are instructions and samples in the README)

And another suggestion: Introducing a confirmation modal when a user click on “remove” button. The modal should clearly explain the consequences of removing the server since it’s a critical action

Cannot claim server

Running RPi5 16GB with Plex server / docker/OMV7 getting unrecognized host type when i run the user credential utility (UserCredentialReset.sh) . BTW I also followed the instructions on docker to add the claim on the composer service script.

If it cannot resolve hostname plex.tv then the DNS is not configured correctly
